Job Summary:The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is an advanced-level role responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of transformers and related components. As an experienced engineer, the Senior Design role involves providing technical leadership on complex projects, mentoring less experienced engineers, and solving advanced engineering challenges. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This role will be onsite in Dyersburg, TN. Relocation Assistance is available.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of transformers or related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications.
  • Conduct advanced engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency, addressing complex design challenges.
  • Perform and oversee failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews, guiding decisions, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer requirements.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • More than 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
  • Proven ability to lead design projects from concept to production.
  • Advanced proficiency with design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., VB .Net, C++, SQL) and database management tools (e.g., MySQL)
  • Ability to interact with, maintain, and update ERP system data related to engineering processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers and related components.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.
  • Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design-related issues.
