Job Summary

Possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to teach all areas of Power Line Construction and Maintenance Technology.
Must be proficient in Power Line Basics, industry-accepted Safety Practices, Climbing Wood and Steel Structures, Electrical Theory and Concepts, Electric Utility Operations, Underground Power Line Construction, and Single Phase and Three Phase Transformer Connections.
Provide individualized classroom, lab, and field work instruction to postsecondary and secondary students to prepare them for employment in power line construction and maintenance fields.
Teach students safe and effective practices in: Overhead and underground line construction, climbing wood and steel structures and rigging techniques, equipment operation (bucket truck, digger derrick, etc.), electrical system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Commitment to remain current in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance field and maintain accreditation standards.
Monitor, grade, and evaluate students' progress and maintain student records.
Assist in the recruitment and placement of students.
Participate in professional development activities.
Maintain good public relations with business and industry and develop and maintain an advisory group comprised of industry personnel for continued program improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned

Job Duties

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Post-secondary training from an industry-accepted Lineman Training program.
Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the power line construction and maintenance field as a Lineman and be a Journeyman Lineman.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards.
Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
High level skills in oral and written communication.
Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
