Job description

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of experience and ARDMS or RCS certification for a Level I Trauma academic medical center in the New Haven region.
Job Details
• Short term acute care Level 1 Trauma academic medical center with 900+ staffed beds,
• Provides adult echo services including 2-D, 3-D echo, bubble study, color doppler, contrast imaging, pharmacologic and treadmill stress echo, and TEE,
• Performs calculations including Simpson's Rule, diastology, LV strain/volume, and proximal isovelocity surface area,
• Works with adult acute care, adult outpatient, ED, and ICU patient populations,
• Uses GE, Hitachi, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite, and Toshiba equipment along with PACS,
• Epic charting system used,
• 4x10 hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM including some Saturdays,
• 40 hours/week with rotating schedule and required weekend shifts,
• May float daily between multiple sites within the New Haven region,
Job Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer,
• ARDMS or CCI RCS certification required,
• BLS certification required,
• Prior travel experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Active state license required prior to start date; pending license accepted if active by start date,
• License required if applicable,
• 1 professional reference required,
• Trauma Center experience at a large facility required,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious/medical exemptions only,
Additional Information
• Ideal candidate demonstrates strong scanning efficiency, consistent image quality, and accurate measurements in a fast-paced department,
• Facility does not accept first-time travelers for this role,
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval,
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local and ineligible,
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler,
• Scrub requirement is a Caribbean blue top with black pants,
• Parking costs approximately $125 per month
