We are looking for amazing people to join our team. We have work that will sustain over the winter and longer. We are not looking for people on a contract or short-term basis. WHAT THIS JOB IS IN A SNAPSHOT

The Drywall Finisher works closely with SkipCo Team Leads, as well as Site Superintendents to support day-to-day project operations. This role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring flexibility to perform a variety of tasks that may change daily. The Drywall Finisher will be responsible for traveling to multiple job sites on a weekly or sometimes daily basis to complete high-quality finishing work. Key parts of this role are maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. We are looking for someone that is highly skilled in drywall taping, mudding, and finishing, and understands the process from basic patching to expert-level commercial smooth finishes. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Prep and finish: Prepare project sites and wall surfaces, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for daily finishing operations.

  • Handle materials: Transport, mix, and apply drywall compounds, tape, and texturing materials safely and efficiently.
  • Work independently: Execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision, meeting daily production goals and adapting to changing site needs.
  • Track progress: Communicate clearly with site leads regarding material needs and project status to ensure timely completion.
  • Multitask: Adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment across both residential and commercial projects.
  • Site support: Assist with light demolition, wallboard replacement, patchwork, and general site cleanup as needed.
  • Residential Duties
  • Finish homes: Tape and mud new single-family or multi-family housing.
  • Installation and removal of existing finishes protection. 
  • Repair spaces: Patch holes, cracks, and water damage in occupied homes.
  • Protect property: Cover homeowner floors and furniture with plastic and drop cloths.
  • Match textures: Blend new repairs with existing wall textures like orange peel or knockdown.
  • Commercial Duties
  • Handle large spaces: Work on fast-paced commercial sites like offices, retail stores, or apartments.
  • Meet strict codes: Follow fire-rated assembly rules and sound-control specifications.
  • Level finishes: Achieve high-level finishes (like Level 4 or Level 5 smooth walls) under bright commercial lights.
  • Installation and removal of existing finishes protection. 
  • Work with teams: Coordinate with metal stud framers, painters, and general contractors.

  • Subject matter expert: Must be the drywall subject matter expert—including advanced taping, mudding, skim coating, drywall patchwork, corner beads, and texture matching.
  • Safety commitment: Consistently maintains a safety-first mindset, following site protocols and OSHA guidelines.


WHAT SETS YOU ABOVE

  • Proven experience: 3+ years of professional experience as a dedicated drywall taper and finisher.
  • Material knowledge: Expert understanding of what drywall materials/compounds (hot mud, all-purpose, lightweight) are needed for different stages of the job.
  • Cross-trade skills: Experience in basic carpentry, painting, and caulking is a plus


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work in an environment that requires a strong sense of physicality
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods in various job site environments
  • Physically able to climb ladders, bend, crouch, twist and access confined spaces as needed
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Willing and available to work off-hours, including nights and weekends, to meet project and client needs
