Job description

Driver Position

The Driver is responsible for transporting Villa residents and personnel to assigned destination. Perform other duties as related to department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review requests for daily trips from Nursing.
  • Maintain proper gauge levels in vehicles. (i. e. fill gas tank when needed, oil, windshield fluid, etc.).
  • Transport residents and personnel to hospitals, doctor's offices, and other assigned places in a caring and safe manner, always representing the Villa in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Insure residents are utilizing seat belts and wheelchairs are safely strapped according to the Villa's policy and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to residents with walkers, wheelchairs, etc. Use care in opening car doors and helping residents with stairs.
  • Inform Director if vehicles need to be updated with listed inspections.
  • Report malfunctions of vehicles or needed serviced check-ups to Director, designee.
  • Determine arrival and departure times with both the designees of daily trip assignments and the resident(s) who are being transported.
  • Report to Director or designee when no trips are scheduled in order to receive new assignment.
  • Carry proper identification when operating a vehicle. (i.e., License, insurance, registration.
  • Report any ticket or accident to the Director immediately.
  • Assist residents, upon arrival and/or pick up at destination, as needed.
  • Drive in a safe manner in accordance with State Driving Laws, obeying rules of the road.
  • Maintain proper maintenance care of vehicles (interior/exterior) for cleanliness.
  • Revocations and/or suspension of one's license must be reported immediately to the Director of Maintenance and the Director of Human Resources.
  • Arrive on time for appointments. As soon as possible, report any delays which might have occurred.
  • Act as pall bearer on occasion and work on grave preparation, as needed.
  • Receive work orders from the Director of Facilities and/or Maintenance Manager
  • Remove trash from various locations in the facility, the incinerator room, and the basement.
  • Sweep and mop fire towers.
  • Clean and replace filters in air-handling equipment.
  • Clean light fixtures and vents, as necessary.
  • Wipe down all equipment in basement.
  • Keep equipment in good condition, i.e., scrubber, vacuum cleaner, etc.
  • Ensure all deliveries to the loading dock are delivered to Materials Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Maintenance Supervisor, as needed.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Valid and current licensure in the state of Pennsylvania

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • One (1) year experience in driving, in all weather conditions and in both city and residential areas.
