Position Summary

Star Lumber is seeking a safety-focused and customer-oriented CDL Class A and/or Class B Delivery Driver to transport and deliver building materials, including lumber, windows, doors, roofing products, trusses, wall panels, and other construction supplies to customer jobsites and company locations. Drivers serve as ambassadors of Star Lumber by providing timely, professional, and damage-free deliveries while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers, truck-mounted forklifts, curtain-side trailers, flatbeds and Class B straight trucks as assigned
  • Deliver building materials to residential and commercial construction sites
  • Verify loads for accuracy before departure and confirm deliveries with customers
  • Secure cargo using proper load securement techniques and DOT requirements 
  • Conduct pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation
  • Maintain electronic logs, inspection reports, fuel records, and delivery paperwork 
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, customers, and sales teams 
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials when required
  • Inspect delivered products for damage and report shortages or discrepancies
  • Operate equipment safely around jobsites, customers, and company facilities
  • Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and Hours-of-Service requirements
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment 
  • Participate in safety meetings and ongoing driver training programs
  • Perform shuttle, transfer, and backhaul assignments between Star Lumber locations as needed
Requirements:
  •   Valid CDL Class A or Class B license
  • Current DOT Medical Certificate
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience delivering building materials
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience operating truck-mounted forklifts (Moffett), or flatbed equipment
  • Knowledge of construction materials and jobsite safety requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds regularly
  • Ability to climb on trailers and equipment safely
  • Ability to secure loads using straps, chains
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
