Job description


JOB DUTIES:
  • Operate water truck, dozer, compactor, scraper, and loader safely and efficiently.
  • Fills tank of Water Truck with water at beginning of and throughout shift as necessary.
  • Drives Water Truck in a skillful, safe and efficient manner inside the landfill while operating sprayers to achieve and maintain appropriate yard surface moisture for dust control and soil compaction activities.
  • Operates heavy equipment in safe and productive manor under direction of Lead operator and Landfill Manager.
  • Performs pre-trip and post trip vehicle and or heavy equipment safety inspections and reports vehicle condition to supervisor.
  • Fuels vehicle as needed and cleans vehicle at end of shift.
  • Will lubricate or perform minor repairs to vehicle. Inspects and spots incoming loads.
  • Responsible for maintaining good house keeping at and around site and conduct activities to assure policies and procedures of the Landfill Operations Manual are maintained.
  • May perform Landfill Clerk duties as needed.
  • Will also assist in and coordinate all landfill activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience operating a dozer and water truck is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of equipment in order to recognize needed repairs or safety hazards.
  • Must have excellent defensive driving skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proven experience operating various types of heavy equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and MSHA regulations.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in challenging terrain.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, sit for extended periods, and withstand vibrations.
Other Requirements
• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and following traffic rules within the quarry.
• Maintain a high level of situational awareness to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Understand and follow environmental regulations related to dust control, spillage prevention, and responsible equipment operation.
• Optimize equipment utilization and minimize downtime to maximize productivity.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of materials and completion of tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, materials moved, and tasks completed.
• Complete any necessary paperwork or electronic documentation as required.
• Must be able and willing to work some Saturdays as needed.
Hourly Range. The base hourly range for this role is between $29.00 - $33.00 per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data. .
