Job Description

The Center for Psychological Humanities and Ethics is launching a project wherein a new online platform is being developed to house and disseminate all of the Center’s offerings- lectures, podcasts, asynchronous content, workshops, learning groups, commentaries, and beyond. This represents a significant scaling of the Center’s current operations and impact capacity. The Associate Director of Media and Technology is responsible for leading and executing all operations related to the creation and ongoing management of a new online platform.

The development and launch of the online platform involves a) significant research to determine appropriate design and technology needs, b) formulation of strategy and timelines for implementation, c) media production and content development with faculty and subject matter experts, and d) troubleshooting and maintaining the platform to ensure seamless user experience.

Toward these ends, the Associate Director will serve as a primary liaison to Boston College’s Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Center for Digital Learning and Innovation (CDIL) to ensure the effective design, implementation, and ongoing support of the digital platform in compliance with all Boston College systems and protocols. The Associate Director will also be a core member of the Center team, working closely with the team to develop the strategy and inputs necessary to optimize the platform development and ongoing management.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated expertise in website management, digital content development, and multimedia production, along with a strong understanding of web technologies, user experience (UX), accessibility standards, and search engine optimization (SEO). This role requires strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and experience working collaboratively across departments in a dynamic environment. The ability to translate complex academic content into clear, engaging digital formats is essential.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $88,350 to $110,450; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Educational Technology, Information Systems, Marketing, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in digital media, web management, instructional technology, digital communications, or a related field, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex organization
  • Experience managing websites and digital platforms, including content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, AEM)
  • Demonstrated experience in multimedia content development, including video production, graphic design, and/or animation
  • Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS), UX principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and SEO best practices
  • Experience with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and data-informed decision making
  • Proven experience managing complex projects and working with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and edit content for a variety of audiences
  • Proficiency with media production and design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and Microsoft Office applications

This position may require occasional evening or weekend hours to support events and project deadlines. The role operates in a standard office environment with extended periods of computer use.
