Job description

A full-service clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology network serving more than 250 acute and rehab hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and commercial accounts is seeking a Medical Technologist in Port Charlotte, FL. The network operates a fully automated esoteric core laboratory, a histology and microbiology operation, and a network of hospital-based rapid-response laboratories across four divisions in Florida.

The role. The Medical Technologist performs accurate and timely laboratory testing, including stat procedures within established turnaround time targets, and applies independent judgment in correlating and interpreting patient results — including performing delta checks. In the absence of the supervisor, this role assumes departmental responsibility as appropriate. The technologist reviews pending logs and result logs to resolve outstanding workload, maintains complete records and documentation pertaining to patient results, and performs quality control procedures per protocol while managing problem and critical specimens and test results.

What we're looking for.

  • A 2 Year/Associate Degree is required
  • A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist required
  • A State of Florida Technologist License is required
  • Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas (Generalist highly preferred): Blood Bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology

Schedule. Full-time, nights with rotating weekends.

Compensation. $27.09 - $37.92/hr
