This job functions in a supervisory capacity over the Security Sergeant and Security Officers on assigned shift and assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Security Operations. This job provides instruction and guidance to officers on assigned shift including officers from other shifts during cross-over periods. This job assumes responsibility for the preparation of work schedules, and provides on the job training.

Education

Required -High school diploma or equivalent.


Work Experience

Required -3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
Preferred - 1 year supervisory experience in security related field.


Certifications

Required -Valid Louisiana driver's license and clean DMV report.

Must be able to successfully pass and maintain instruction and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), and firearms training.

Preferred -Completion of Certified Police Officer of Standard Training Policy Academy (state or federal).

Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
  • This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Job Duties

  • Coordinates the activity and day-to-day operations of security staff on assigned shift.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to security staff regarding departmental issues including enforcement of policies and procedures, and security services provided.
  • Evaluates incidents of a serious security or sensitive nature and takes appropriate action, including response and notifications and advises security leadership of all notable incidents.
  • Completes security audits quarterly or as assigned in a timely manner according to guidelines.
  • Ensures all security reports are complete and correct within established time frame.
  • Supports leadership in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
  • Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
  • Oversees scheduling of personnel to avoid overtime not approved by security leadership.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
