Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position is responsible for treatment and care of our surgical patient’s environment. The CNA will work in the direct supervision of a registered nurse while in a patient care environment. The CNA work within the context of the licensure as part of surgical team to provide care to individuals before, during and after a surgical procedure.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide patient care to individuals in the pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods while under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse; collaborates with medical staff and other departments daily to promote coordination of patient care.
  • Provide support to nursing staff: transport of the patient, housekeeping duties associated with changeover of pre-surgical, operating room, and post-surgical areas including linen changes and disinfection processes.
  • Provide administrative support to the ASC: clerical duties to include but not limited to assisting with chart maintenance/scanning, data entry, copying, dictations, phone calls, inventory, and supply restocking.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to compliance standards; following ASC philosophies and standards of care set by state board of licensure and other governing agency regulations.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
  • Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant professional license in the State of Indiana.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support is required.
