Tell me about the job...

As a Data Center Operator, you'll be on the front lines of daily operations at one of our mission-critical facilities. Your role will involve monitoring systems, executing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and working closely with vendors and clients alike. You'll report directly to the Data Center Manager and play a key part in ensuring our infrastructure performs reliably and efficiently.


What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage facility health and safety, including preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Respond to faults, perform diagnostics, and support root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical systems (BMS/EPMS/BAS).
  • Coordinate vendor activity and supervise on-site work.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements (SSAE 18, ISO, PCI).
  • Participate in change management processes and support documentation efforts.
  • Perform routine infrastructure inspections and support local capacity management.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track visitors, manage shipments, and follow established security protocols.
  • Install, cable, and rack IT hardware when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in operational areas.


Working Conditions

  • Full-time role: Minimum 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday).
  • Rotating on-call responsibilities (typically 1 week every 3-4 weeks).
  • Occasional evening, weekend, or extended hours may be required.
  • Some roles may include 24x7 shiftwork depending on location.
  • Interaction with customers and vendors is routine.


What experience, certifications, and skills do you need?
Experience

  • 4+ years in a data center, facilities management, or other mission-critical environment.
  • Familiarity with power and mechanical systems.
  • Practical experience with BMS/EPMS/BAS software.
  • Use of ticketing systems and understanding of ITIL practices.*


Education / Certifications

  • Electrical certifications (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technologist).*
  • Mechanical/HVAC certifications.*
  • CPR and AED certifications.
  • Ability to obtain Reliability Clearance (minimum 5 years of Canadian residency).
  • ASP safety training.*


Competencies

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and familiar with BMS/EPMS/CMMS tools.

En tant qu'operateur de centre de donneestu joueras un role essentiel dans la gestion des operations quotidiennes, la maintenance et l'optimisation de l'infrastructure electrique et mecanique tout en soutenant les installations critiques d'eStruxture. La personne retenue sera responsable de la surveillance des installations, de l'entretien preventif, de l'optimisation, de la sante et de la securite, de la reponse/des rapports sur les incidents, de la gestion de la capacite, ainsi que de la planification et de la priorisation des activites d'entretien correctif.L'operateur de centre de donneesrelevera directement du gestionnaire du centre de donnees.

Conditions de travail

  • Poste a temps plein : 40 heures par semaine minimum (du lundi au vendredi).
  • Prise de garde par rotation (generalement une semaine toutes les 3 a 4 semaines).
  • Des horaires en soiree, le week-end ou des heures supplementaires peuvent etre occasionnellement requis.
  • Certains postes peuvent impliquer un travail poste 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours sur 7, selon le lieu d'affectation.

  • Au moins 4 ans dans un centre de donnees, la gestion des installations ou tout autre environnement critique.
  • Connaissance des systemes electriques et mecaniques.
  • Experience pratique des logiciels BMS/EPMS/BAS.
  • Maitrise des systemes de gestion des tickets et comprehension des pratiques ITIL.*


Formation / Certifications

  • Certifications en electricite (par exemple, electricien qualifie, technicien en genie electrique).*
  • Certifications en mecanique/CVC.*
  • Certifications en RCP et en utilisation d'un defibrillateur automatique externe (DAE).
  • Capacite a obtenir une habilitation de securite (au moins 5 ans de residence au Canada).
  • Formation a la securite ASP.*


Competences

  • Connaissance des systemes CVC, des refroidisseurs, des climatiseurs a recirculation (CRAH), des unites de traitement d'air (AHU), des pompes, des compresseurs, etc.
  • Competences en depannage et bonne maitrise des outils BMS/EPMS/CMMS.
