Job description

Sr. Energy Analyst - Infrastructure Modeling, Analytics & Demand Response
Location: New York, NY or Boston, MA
Your Role
As a Sr. Energy Analyst, you will play a key role in optimizing energy use across a portfolio of enterprise data centers by developing energy infrastructure models, identifying demand flexibility opportunities, and supporting energy market participation strategies. This position leverages data-driven analytics to improve operational efficiency, enhance sustainability initiatives, monetize existing infrastructure assets, and accelerate site readiness while partnering closely with internal stakeholders, utilities, and external service providers.
What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain financial and operational models for behind-the-meter and onsite energy infrastructure, including natural gas generation, distributed energy resources (DERs), energy storage, backup generation, and other campus-level power assets.
  • Perform portfolio analytics, forecasting, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate infrastructure utilization, site readiness, cost avoidance opportunities, revenue generation, and NOI impact.
  • Analyze and forecast data center load flexibility opportunities and support demand-side optimization initiatives.
  • Evaluate, enroll, and manage participation in Demand Response (DR), capacity, ancillary services, flexible load, and tariff optimization programs.
  • Develop and enhance automated demand response strategies, including real-time and day-ahead event response plans.
  • Monitor program performance, investigate underperformance issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track energy market conditions, utility tariffs, regulatory developments, and industry trends that impact participation opportunities and energy strategy.
  • Manage the intake, validation, normalization, integration, and quality assurance of energy-related datasets from vendors, utilities, consultants, and aggregators.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, finance, procurement, development, utilities, grid operators, and third-party providers to support energy supply, infrastructure, financing, and demand flexibility initiatives.
  • Deliver clear recommendations, reports, dashboards, and analytical insights that support strategic and operational decision-making across the portfolio.

What You'll Need
  • 2+ years of experience in energy analytics, infrastructure analytics, demand response programs, utility operations, commercial and industrial (C&I) energy management, data center energy management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience building, maintaining, documenting, validating, and quality-checking business-critical models, dashboards, and datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with at least one data analysis or programming tool such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Understanding of power systems, grid programs, demand response markets, capacity and ancillary service programs, and energy market structures.
  • Knowledge of utility tariffs, demand charges, distributed energy resources (DERs), and energy infrastructure economics.
  • Ability to evaluate complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functions and managing relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience supporting cloud, hyperscale, enterprise data center, utility, energy consulting, ISO/RTO, aggregator, DER, or large infrastructure environments preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate and timely analysis.
