Job Summary
Chicago State University Athletics is seeking qualified, dependable, and detail-oriented individuals to support home athletic contests as part of our scorer's table personnel pool. Selected candidates may be assigned to one or more roles across multiple sports based on departmental needs, scheduling, and individual experience. Cross-training across positions is encouraged. This is a part-time, hourly position. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.
Job Description
Role Descriptions
Game Clock Operator
• Operate the official game clock during athletic contests
• Ensure accurate timing in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations
• Communicate effectively with officials and scorer's table personnel
Shot Clock Operator (Basketball)
• Operate and reset the shot clock according to NCAA rules
• Coordinate with officials and scorer's table personnel throughout the game
Scoreboard Operator
• Operate electronic scoreboard systems during athletic events
• Maintain accurate game information including scores, fouls, timeouts, and game clock
• Assist with game management and in-game operations as needed
Replay Operator (Basketball)
• Operate replay systems for official reviews and in-venue production
• Assist game officials and event management staff with replay requests
• Maintain compliance with NCAA replay procedures
Official Book Scorekeeper (Basketball)
• Maintain the official scorebook during basketball contests
• Record scoring, fouls, substitutions, timeouts, and other game actions
• Verify information with officials and scoreboard personnel
Statistician
• Enter live statistical data using NCAA-approved statistical software
• Ensure accuracy of all statistical records during competition
• Support postgame reporting and distribution of official statistics
***Selected candidates are expected to work the full home game schedule for their assigned sport(s) throughout the season.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced, live event environment
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, Daktronics, Genius Sports, or similar statistical and scoreboard software
• Prior experience as a scorekeeper, statistician, clock operator, line judge, libero tracker, or event operations staff member
• Familiarity with NCAA rules and game management procedures
• Experience working in a collegiate or professional athletic setting

Physical Requirement/ Demands
• Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods during athletic events
• May be required to navigate stairs and work throughout arenas, gymnasiums, stadiums, or outdoor venues
• May work in confined or narrow spaces including press boxes, scorer's tables, control rooms, replay areas, and media workspaces
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in variable temperatures and weather conditions
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements associated with scoreboards, game clocks, statistical software, and other equipment
