What is a Weekend CVS Nurse Practitioner?

Weekend CVS Nurse Practitioners are licensed healthcare professionals who work at CVS retail clinics, such as MinuteClinic, primarily during weekends. They provide a range of medical services including diagnosing and treating common illnesses, prescribing medications, conducting physical exams, administering vaccinations, and offering health education. These practitioners help expand access to care for patients who may not be able to visit a doctor's office during the week. Working weekends allows them to serve patients with busy schedules or urgent needs outside of regular business hours.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Weekend CVS Nurse Practitioner?

To thrive as a Weekend CVS Nurse Practitioner, you need advanced clinical assessment skills, a master's or doctoral degree in nursing, and a valid nurse practitioner license. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, point-of-care testing devices, and telehealth platforms is commonly required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure efficient, high-quality patient care and effective decision-making during weekend shifts with limited onsite support.

Clinical Rotation Description:

This clinical rotation prepares Family Nurse Practitioner students for ambulatory care settings. We provide acute and chronic care to the communities that we serve for patients 18m and older (24m and older in MA). We offer women's health exams, sports physicals, camp physicals, etc. MinuteClinic prepares students by not only meeting the academic standards of the school, but by providing students with a well-rounded experience that includes specialized online training, patient interaction, visibility to our EMR and the opportunity to work in a new and exciting model of health care. Our preceptors have a passion for teaching and sharing their knowledge. All of our providers have exceptional clinical skills and are experts in the operational skills required to run their own clinic. MinuteClinic's student clinical program offers the most unique experience available, because you are doing more than just enhancing your clinical skills: Practical education including clinic operations, insurance procedures, and the option to refer to evidence based guidelines. Students will gain exposure in an ambulatory care setting and develop an understanding of how these clinics fit into the current structure of health care delivery. You'll develop an understanding of how our corporate office relates to and supports our clinical practice. Most MinuteClinic locations are open 7 days a week and our providers' schedules are compressed, so clinical days can vary from week-to-week. Clinic locations may also vary depending on schedule of your assigned preceptor.

Required Qualifications:

To participate, you must be enrolled in a Family Nurse Practitioner program that already has an executed Affiliation Agreement with MinuteClinic. FNP students must have an RN license in the state in which they will be precepting. We will also verify with your program faculty that you are eligible for a clinical rotation at MinuteClinic. You must have at least one year of RN experience (outside of school-required clinicals).

This role is part of an unpaid clinical student program and is not eligible for pay or benefits.

Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for the rotation program.

This role is part of an unpaid program and is not eligible for pay or benefits.

This job does not have an application deadline, as CVS Health accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
