Job description

As an Operating Room RN at Mercy Regional Medical Center, you will circulate for a diverse caseload within a 9-suite department plus one dedicated labor and delivery suite, averaging 20–30+ procedures daily. Surgical services include Spine, Orthopedics (Totals and Sports Medicine), Robotics, Urology, Plastics, ENT, GYN, Ophthalmology, Dental, and General surgery, along with supporting C-sections in labor and delivery. Staff are cross-trained across all specialties and responsible for intraoperative relief, room turnover, and supply restocking. Throughout the perioperative process, you will serve as a dedicated patient advocate.

The Surgery department at Mercy Regional Medical Center is a Level III operating room that treats spine, ortho, ENT, GYN patients, a few eye surgeries, some dental, plastics and a mix of general surgical procedures. We have seven ORs with two dedicated to outpatient cases and are strictly surgical for patients one year old and above. We provide care to the Four Corners region and see patients from all over, including occasional trauma. Our department is service oriented, and we care for one another so we all can have a great quality of life and a safe work environment. To be part of this team, individuals must have strong OR skills, be honest, punctual, reliable and have a sense that every day they put their best foot forward for their community and patients.


As our RN, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient, advancing modern nursing through compassionate care.

Every day you will promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrating personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively within a supportive, mission-driven environment.

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
  • Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
  • Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
  • Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.

We are offering up to $10,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.


Schedule: 40hrs/ Week- Variable shifts per surgical volume and current unit needs 

Call Required-Approx 5 call shifts in 6 weeks –1900-0700 weeknights and 700-1900, 1900-0700 on weekends

30min Callback radius required. Sleep rooms available in House 


Required

  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
  • RN License in state of employment
  • Physical Requirements:  Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly

Preferred

  • Previous OR-Circulating Experience highly preferred
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • One (1) year experience
