Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Flight Nurse Practitioner Metro Life Flight | The MetroHealth System

Metro Life Flight, a division of The MetroHealth System, is seeking a dedicated, highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic and growing critical care transport team. As part of one of the nation's premier air medical and critical care transport programs, our APPs collaborate across multiple disciplines to provide exceptional emergency and critical care to critically ill and injured patients during both air and ground transports. Care is delivered from the scene or referring facilities to secondary and tertiary care centers throughout the region.

This position offers a unique opportunity to practice in a fast-paced, highly specialized critical care environment. In addition to providing direct patient care, APPs are expected to actively contribute to program development, demonstrate clinical leadership, and support strategic initiatives that advance the quality and effectiveness of our service.

Schedule

Advanced Practice Providers work rotating shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or qualification under applicable Ohio Revised Code grandfathering provisions.
  2. Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program.
  3. Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification.
  4. Certificate of Authority as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  5. Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
  6. Eligibility for clinical privileges within the applicable specialty/department of The MetroHealth System and completion of the credentialing process upon hire.
  7. Maintenance of a Standard Care Arrangement in accordance with Ohio Board of Nursing requirements.
  8. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association.
  9. Completion of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or an approved equivalent, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six (6) months of hire.
  10. A minimum of five (5) years of recent, active nursing experience in a critical care environment, including experience in an Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit.
  11. CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) or CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) certification within two (2) years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Previous Nurse Practitioner experience in a critical care setting.
  2. Current Ohio EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic certification.
  3. Experience in prehospital medicine, air medical transport, and/or critical care transport.
  4. Experience utilizing high-fidelity human patient simulation for education and training.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
  2. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods as required.
  3. Visual acuity within normal ranges, with or without corrective lenses.
  4. Hearing acuity within normal ranges, with or without corrective devices.
  5. Ability to lift 250–300 pounds with assistance.
  6. Ability to push and pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
  7. Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood, and bodily fluids.
  8. Ability to work with and around chemicals and cleaning agents.
  9. Ability to provide patient care in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions.
