Job Title: Senior Construction Manager

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90037

Anticipated Start Date: August 2026

Pay Range: $175K - $200K per year plus benefits

Project Duration: Ongoing; approx. 2 years with potential extension


Project Details (Size, SOW, Site Background, etc.):

APSI is in search of a senior, experienced Senior Construction Manager to serve as the primary client-facing representative for a large site improvement project. As the SCM, you will take charge of resolving complex construction project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements, ensuring smooth progress throughout all phases of the projects. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing, assigning, and meticulously monitoring the performance of Construction Managers

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Primary day-to-day point of contact for the owner, contract, and progressive design-builder
  • Provide strategic guidance with project goals and objectives to ensure alignment with the owners critical needs
  • Manage and provide oversight to Architects, Engineers, Schedulers, Estimators, and Construction Managers
  • Support development of project scope, budget validation, and delivery strategy
  • Assist with developing the Progressive Design Build Procurement Documents
  • Oversee design development to ensure compliance with regulatory, code, and owner requirements
  • Participating in the negotiations of the GMP or Lump Sum
  • Facilities meetings and ensure cohesive, integrated teamwork
  • Review design status and overall construction progress relative to submitted construction schedules.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contractors' extra work claims and change proposals and asses their impact on the client
  • Develops and implements appropriate risk allocation and management strategies for design-build projects
  • Evaluating the impact of project progress on operations and making recommendations on any necessary course of action
  • Review and verify submitted applications for payment and perform overall fiscal management of multiple construction projects
  • Provide functional directions over areas of responsibility including construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control
  • Review and take recommended actions in resolving disputes related to construction projects.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

In addition to emphasis on the need to maintain positive rapport with owner, project stakeholders, including consultants, engineers in this field assignment need to be self-motivated to manage and see-through-to-completion significant contracts as well as possess the written communication skills necessary to document conflicting points of view regarding construction matters. Construction contracts include underground utilities, site work, and may span a large geographical area, may require night work/overtime. The work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm; some night work and overtime as required by project.

Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certifications, Clearances, etc.):

  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in construction management
  • Three (3) years of experience in managing Progressive Design-Build projects having construction values over $50 million (not cumulative)
  • Five (5) years of experience in public works or large commercial construction projects
  • Superior technical writing and communication skills, analytical skills and project management skills
  • Software including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier and/or ProCore, Bluebeam
  • Experience implementing Lean construction management principles
  • Managing underground utility repair and infrastructure projects
  • Troubleshooting complex problems involving project construction
  • Strong understanding of:
  • California Building Code
  • ADA compliance
  • Fire and life-safety standards
  • Environmental review processes (CEQA experience preferred)
  • Ability to be on call at night and during weekends to support construction projects as needed
  • Ability to seamlessly transition between office work - handling RFIs, change orders, claims, and project closeouts - and on-site construction oversight, providing input during the construction process and ensuring projects are completed efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer (California) by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential
  • Design Build Institute of America designation credential
