Description
SUMMARY
Supervise the College weight room facility, fieldhouse, Jets Air Station. Work in coordination with Health & Physical Fitness (HPF) faculty, Life time Learning (LTL) instructors, front desk staff and gym monitors to offer outstanding customer service and ensure the safety of those using the Victor Cuiss Field House and Jets Air Station.
Hours: Nights and Weekends
Essential Functions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide supervision of the weight room and JAS to ensure safe usage of equipment.
  2. Promote weight training and fitness programs to potential and current patrons.
  3. Support HPF faculty in assisting students to meet course requirements.
  4. Positively represent the College and provide excellent customer service to those using the weight room facility by responding to patrons' questions and concerns, being open and approachable to all patrons.
  5. Conduct and monitor the check-in/check-out process of those using the facilities.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and the work-out area.
  7. Monitor and report equipment problems.
  8. Maintain the appropriate CPR/First Aid certification and offer first aid to patrons if necessary.
  9. Lock and unlock the workout area as appropriate. Work with Security department to ensure that the facility is appropriately cleared and locked at the end of the day.
  10. Provide rules enforcement through positive redirection and in accordance with all College, departmental and safety guidelines
  11. Greet students as they enter the Facility.
  12. Follow process for checking equipment in/out. Note damage or misuse.
  13. Assist in set-up for scheduled activities.
  14. Monitor use of gymnasium and take corrective action when necessary.
  15. Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.
  16. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Internal: Frequent contact with faculty, staff, coaches, and administrators within Student Services, Health and Physical Fitness, JPEC and other departments in an educational and information-sharing capacity.
External:Frequent contact with students and patrons to provide encouragement and
direction in the area of recreation and fitness.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Required: high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates degree; or one- or two-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be CPR/First Aid Certified or become certified within 30 days of hiring.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of personal computers and software including word processing and spreadsheets
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Good command of grammar.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate addition and subtraction and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
