Job description

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking aย Staff Environmental Scientist 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This position entails frequent travel to job sites and working outside of the office setting conducting site and subsurface characterization for environmental projects and monitoring contractor's environmental-related activities during construction. This is aย full-timeย position located in ourย Phoenix, AZย office.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Conduct data collection, synthesis, and analysis using industry standard procedures.
  • Prepare documentation of subcontractor work activities, including daily field reports and tracking spreadsheets
  • Conduct due diligence assessments and environmental compliance audits.
  • Conduct onsite environmental investigation duties related to soil, groundwater, ambient air, and vapor intrusion.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications/plans for air quality, stormwater, spill control (SPCC), land reclamation, aquifer protection, and industrial discharge.
  • Assist in the design and start-up of soil, groundwater, and indoor air remediation systems.
  • Assist in studies that evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of remedial alternatives to site cleanup.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating on small to medium-sized project opportunities.
  • Prepare bid packages and solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Proactively manage tasks to ensure projects are delivered on scheduleย and within budget,ย and client-agreed quality standards.
  • Perform and participate in constructability reviews.
  • Track scope changes and budget and elevate required actions to project management staff.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor'sย degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills - Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in all MS Office software.
  • Ability to travel to temporary assignments across the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude to work with sampling equipment in the field.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
  • Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.

Preferred Skills:

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
