The Role:
We are looking for a Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Team. As a Facilities Technician, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.
In this role, you will be responsible for day to day facility support operations. The ideal candidate is someone who is a team player with a "no job is too big or too small" attitude.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other building systems. Make repairs as needed or coordinate with external contractors.
  • Work with external vendors or contractors for specialized projects, repairs, or maintenance when needed.
  • Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Operate and monitor building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure proper function .
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and company policies. Maintain records for inspections, repairs, and audits.
  • Perform general upkeep tasks such as cosmetic work, painting, floor repairs to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) tasks to include HAZMAT removal through coordination with contractors, updating SDS database, JHA (job hazard analysis), etc.
  • Assist with physical security projects and procedures
  • Coordinate and assist with warehouse operations
  • Coordinate and assist with moving equipment
  • Monitor and maintain inventory. Order material, consumables, and parts as necessary.
  • Monitor calibration program, schedule, and send equipment for calibration when necessary
  • Respond to internal employee requests for building and project related issues. Maintain a customer service-oriented relationship.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Create, address, and follow protocols and SOPs for facility emergencies such as power outages, water leaks, and broken equipment to minimize disruption to business operations. On-call after hours and weekends for response to facility emergencies.
  • Other assigned duties as required in support of business needs.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 year technical degree or certification and 4+ years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-tech electronics / optics laboratory / data center / manufacturing environment. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree or certification.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as facility maintenance.
  • Ability to work with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, as well as cross functionally with various organizations.
  • Detail oriented individual with fine motor skills.
  • Experience working with hand tools and performing small facilities, manufacturing, and lab repairs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, technical specifications and operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include, but not limited to: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working overhead.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google and Microsoft platforms.
  • Excitement to learn and complement tasks contributing to multiple teams.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment like forklifts, scissor lifts, box trucks, etc.
  • A safety first mindset with ability to recognize hazards and identify appropriate PPE.
  • A willingness to support a 5S program.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working for a fast pace leading edge tech company.
  • Experience working in R&D laboratory spaces (optics, electronics, etc.)
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Safety certifications like first aid, CPR, AED, BBP
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience working in a highly secured environments (classified, ITAR, CUI)
  • Experience with security systems (access control, cameras, etc)
  • Experience with new site buildouts, site relocations, and site decommissioning
  • Experience participating on a safety committee and performing JHAs (job hazard analysis), incident investigations, root cause analysis, etc

The approximate pay range for this position is $24.89 - $30.05 per hour. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
