Position Overview

A leading engineering and construction firm is seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer (P.E.) to support complex industrial EPC projects. This role requires an experienced technical leader capable of serving as the Engineer of Record (EOR) to deliver comprehensive civil and structural engineering scopes for heavy industrial and process facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design: Lead and perform complete civil and structural engineering design for heavy industrial facilities, developing conceptual layouts, structural framing concepts, detailed calculations, and material take-offs.

Engineer of Record: Serve as the P.E. of Record on assigned project deliverables requiring professional certification and stamping.

Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless interdisciplinary integration.

Technical Oversight & Quality: Review and check engineering calculations, drawings, and vendor documentation for accuracy, code compliance, and constructability.

Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers while leading project task forces within scope, schedule, and budget.

Procurement & Construction Support: Develop equipment specifications, material requisitions, and bid packages; review fabrication drawings and vendor submittals; and conduct on-site field visits for tie-ins and construction support as needed.

Qualifications & RequirementsEducation & Licensure

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (with relevant structural coursework).

Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is required.

Experience & Skills

6+ years of progressive civil/structural engineering experience within heavy industrial, manufacturing, chemical, or EPC environments.

In-depth working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.

Proficiency with industry-standard civil/structural design and analysis software.

Familiarity with computer-aided design tools such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Proven ability to produce cost estimates, construction specifications, and material quantity take-offs.

Strong communication, client-facing, and project leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and virtual teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
