Job description

Major Food Group is seeking a Host to join our team at Carbone!

Carbone is an Italian-American restaurant created by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick. The restaurant pays homage to the essence of the great Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century in New York, where delicious, exceptionally well-prepared food was served in settings that were simultaneously elegant, comfortable and unpretentious. The food nods to that same history, but takes its culinary cues from the great talents and techniques of the present and of the future. Familiar dishes like Seafood Salad, Linguini Vongole, Lobster Fra Diavola, Chicken Scarpariello and Veal Parmesan elevated to a new level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and seats guests, presents menus to guests, informs them of special catch and soups.
  • Treats all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strives to exceed guests' expectations.
  • Takes names on a waiting list.
  • Runs the floor plan board.
  • Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Takes guest information and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
  • Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at the host area.
  • Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
  • Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure a positive dining experience.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in a high volume, upscale restaurant preferred but not required
  • Previous customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional service. 
  • Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays). 
  • Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift 30 lbs. 
  • Proficient or ability to learn computer skills including POS systems, OpenTable, Word and Excel.
  •  Positive and enthusiastic attitude

COMPENSATION: (Hourly) $21.00 - $24.00
