Job description

Position Title: CDL Driver II - Heavy Haul

Department: Trucking - HH

Supervisor: Trucking Superintendent

Location: Athens, AL

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks equipped for hauling oversized and overweight loads, such as flatbeds, lowboys, or multi-axle trailers
  • Ensure proper handling and securing of loads using straps, chains, and other equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transit
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including hours of service, weight limits, and vehicle inspections
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and brakes, to ensure safe operation
  • Maintain a high level of quality work at all times
  • Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • CDL Class A Required
  • 1+ year experience as CDL Driver and/or can drive 2+ trucks
  • Hazmat Endorsement Preferred
  • Tanker Endorsement Preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations
  • Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
  • Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards
  • Ability to obtain Arsenal Badge and FBI Badge preferred, but not required
  • Dependable transportation
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Committed to attending work each day
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
