Experience We're Looking For:

Experience in a crisis management setting or service during which the individual provided crisis response| 1 Year| Required Experience working with children or adults (dependent upon population served) with a mental health diagnosis, an intellectual/developmental disability, or substance use disorder| 1-4 years (Dependent Upon Education - see Job Description)| Required

Additional Details:

A Qualified Professional (10A NCAC 27G .0104) must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor degree (non Human Services) with 4 years Full time OR 8 years Part time applicable experience required

  • Bachelor degree (Human Services) with 2 years Full time OR 4 years Part time applicable experience required

  • Master degree (Human Services) with 1 year Full time OR 2 years Part time applicable experience required

Job Description Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Qualified Professional for BHUC includes providing clinically based guidance to both staff and the individuals they support, including clerical, clinical and organizational tasks all while conveying a positive image of the organization.

What You'll Do:

Provide initial assessment, evaluate effectiveness of assessment and referral made by person receiving services, participate in team meetings/case reviews with providers and natural supports as needed.
Identify opportunities for community connections and development/enhancement of natural support networks for people served. Work with staff to educate people served on these referral options and access opportunities.
Use a range of communication skills and strategies to establish a mutual relationship with the individual, staff, co-workers, supervisors, other stakeholders and people who are important to the individuals receiving services.
Ensure referral recommendations for services are and supports that are in alignment with the assessment.
Provide Assertive Engagement Services to hospital discharge referrals with a documented severe or serious mental illness and/or addictive disorder who have history of erratic or non-engagement in treatment; Individuals eligible for Assertive Engagement must be identified as in need of active engagement, have experienced a significant therapeutic disconnect with the service provider or have an instance of/situation resulting in hospitalizations, jail days, or involvement with law enforcement.
Prepare and submit required or requested reports, documents, assessments, evaluations and paperwork. Review and sign off on clinical documentation as required. Designated to release confidential information within assigned department(s).
Identify methods whereby services can be provided utilizing existing community resources whenever possible.
Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures including preventative and crisis services.
Work with the Practice Administrator and the staff on the continual assessment and enhancement of services provided by the BHUC.
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.
Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Driving and travel may be required.
