Laboratory Technician - Cannabis Testing (Michigan)Location: Warren, MichiganJob Type: Full-TimeSchedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift (Weekends as needed for turn around times)Job SummaryMI Cannalytics is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support cannabis testing operations within Michigan's medical and adult-use cannabis industry. This role is responsible for sample handling, laboratory testing support, data recording, and compliance with all applicable state regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a regulated laboratory environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform sample handling, preparation, and documentation for cannabis and cannabis productsAccurately record laboratory data, including sample weights, volumes, and quality control resultsMaintain compliance with state regulations and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs)Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data entry and trackingSupport sample intake, accessioning, and non-analytical testing (e.g., moisture content, water activity, foreign material analysis)Prepare reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials according to established proceduresOperate and maintain laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning and preventative maintenanceConduct daily instrument performance checks and assist with basic troubleshootingAdhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all laboratory recordsMaintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagentsAssist with method validation, verification, and proficiency testingPerform cannabis sampling and transport activities as requiredFollow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE)Required QualificationsMinimum age of 21 yearsValid driver's licenseAbility to meet eligibility requirements for employment within a licensed cannabis business in MichiganHigh school diploma or equivalentOne of the following:2+ years of laboratory experience; OR1+ year of laboratory experience and successful completion of a skills assessmentExperience with laboratory documentation, data entry, and compliance proceduresProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)Preferred QualificationsExperience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, food testing, or environmental laboratoriesFamiliarity with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency regulationsExperience with METRC or other cannabis tracking systemsKnowledge of aseptic technique and sample preparationExperience with LIMS systemsCore CompetenciesAttention to detailTime managementOrganizational skillsProblem-solving abilityCommunication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to compliance and qualityWork EnvironmentLaboratory setting with regulated cannabis materialsUse of PPE requiredExposure to chemicals, fumes, and laboratory equipmentVideo and audio monitoring in accordance with state regulationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, sit, and walk for extended periodsFrequent use of hands and arms for handling samples and equipmentOccasional lifting up to 40 poundsAbility to perform tasks requiring close vision and focusBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurancePaid time off
