BOX OFFICE MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Charleston Dirty Birds are currently seeking an organized, driven, and customer-service-oriented professional to join our Ticket Sales Department as Box Office Manager.
The Box Office Manager will oversee all ticket operations at GoMart Ballpark while working closely with season ticket members, mini-plan holders, and group clients. This role is responsible for renewing existing accounts, generating new individual package sales, and coordinating group outings including Corporate Events, Youth Sports Nights, Church Groups, Scout Nights, and other community-based events.
This position will also manage the ticketing database system, ensure records are accurate and current, and supervise ticket sellers and ticket takers throughout the season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop new season ticket members while maintaining strong relationships with current ticket holders.
  • Handle customer inquiries, troubleshoot issues, process orders, coordinate ticket delivery, and manage invoicing.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team ticket sales goals through proactive prospecting (calls, email, in-person outreach).
  • Generate and coordinate group sales opportunities including corporate outings, youth leagues, schools, churches, and civic organizations.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships through networking events, ballpark hospitality, and community engagement.
  • Analyze ticket sales reports and group performance metrics throughout the season.
  • Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Conduct follow-up communication to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Meet and greet season ticket members, group leaders, and fans during games.
  • Train and manage box office interns, game-day ticket sellers, and ticket takers.
  • Operate and maintain the ticketing database system (Tickets.com ProVenue or comparable platform).
  • Reconcile and balance ticket department financials following each game.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior experience in sports, specifically within a ticket sales or ticket operations department.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong customer service mindset.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical and comfortable working with sales data and reports.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays during the season.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in community relations, public relations, or project/event management. Sports-specific experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct Supervisor for Box office Ticket Sellers
Will assist in supervision of interns and other gameday staff as needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively (oral & written) with all types of clients, co-workers, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively under pressure and when working under a deadline.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as analyzing costs, return on investment, and analyzing metrics and statistics in comparison to set goals and performance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret directions and technical diagrams.
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must show discretion when making recommendations regarding options and event details for a Charleston Dirty Birds Baseball game or event.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Travel Requirements: Does not require travel outside of Charleston
• Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
• Work Environment: The incumbent primarily works in an office environment, however is expected to attend Charleston Dirty Birds Baseball Games and Special Events.
This work is performed primarily in a business office setting within a sports and entertainment facility. Events often take place outside of traditional business hours, on weekends, and holidays. Some areas of the facility may be noisy and subject to changing weather conditions.
The ability to move swiftly throughout the facility and stand for long periods of time is necessary. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
