Job description

Works under the direction of the Irrigation Specialist or Lead Gardener and is responsible for maintaining the irrigation system of the property. All functions are performed in accordance with the Landscape department and LEGOLAND policies, practice, and procedures. The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems. This role ensures efficient water usage, system performance, and compliance with local regulations. Operates hand tools and power equipment in a safe, reliable manner.  Performs other maintenance functions within the theme park and assists other maintenance MCs as deemed necessary by the Lead Gardener or Landscape Supervisor.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  1. Uses assigned tools and power equipment in a safe and prescribed manner, avoiding misuse, breakage or loss.
  2. Loads and Unloads work vehicles.
  3. Install and maintain irrigation systems, including valves, controllers, drip systems, and sprinkler heads .      
  4. Diagnose and repair system issues such as leaks, broken lines, faulty valves, and electrical malfunctions
  5. Program and adjust irrigation controllers based on seasonal requirements and site conditions
  6. Perform routine inspections to ensure proper system operation and water efficiency
  7. Conduct system audits to identify opportunities for water conservation and improvements
  8. Read and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, and specifications
  9. Monitor water usage and make adjustments to comply with local water restrictions
  10. Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of irrigation parts and materials
  11. Communicate with supervisors, and team members regarding system status and repairs
  12. Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards and local codes
  13. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  14. Keeps safety as #1 priority. Is attentive to safety of self, fellow MCs and the public. Wear PPE
  15. Completes daily time and material (T&M) cards prior to leaving property.
  16. Maintains liaison with fellow maintenance employees and other departments.
  17. Performs related maintenance work as deemed necessary or required.
  18. Any other duty deemed needed by the manager or park operation.

  • Previous experience in irrigation installation and repair (2+ years preferred)
  • Knowledge of irrigation components, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system issues efficiently
  • Familiarity with irrigation controllers, (Rain Bird irrigation systems)
  • Familiarity with CCU and maxicom system a plus.
  • Understanding of water management principles and conservation practices
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams

 

Education:

High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required.

Other Requirements:

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays to support park operations.

Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.
