Senior Controls Technician

Dayton, OH

EES Facility Services is looking for a full-time Senior Controls Technician to service our customers in Dayton, Ohio. EES Facility Services is looking for an experienced Senior Building Automation / Controls Technician who can take ownership in the field. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who is comfortable troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, integrating, and improving commercial and industrial BAS systems with limited supervision.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
  • 8 AM – 5 PM 

What you need to succeed:

  • 5+ years of hands-on commercial or industrial building automation / DDC controls experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and sequences of operation.
  • Proven ability to independently troubleshoot controls hardware, low-voltage wiring, networks, programming, and mechanical system interactions.
  • Experience programming and commissioning BAS/DDC systems.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and Modbus.
  • Ability to read mechanical plans, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation.
  • Strong customer communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites throughout the region

Preferred Experience:

  • Johnson Controls Metasys / Facility Explorer.
  • Tridium Niagara N4.
  • Distech Controls.
  • BAS integrations, network troubleshooting, and system migrations.
  • Experience mentoring technicians or serving as the technical lead on projects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Troubleshoot BAS/DDC systems, controllers, sensors, actuators, communication networks, programming, and sequences of operation.
  • Program and modify controllers, setpoints, schedules, alarms, trends, and sequences to meet project and customer requirements.
  • Perform startup, point-to-point checkout, commissioning, functional testing, and system verification.
  • Integrate HVAC equipment and third-party systems using BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, and other common BAS protocols.
  • Build and modify graphics, databases, network connections, and front-end interfaces.
  • Diagnose control issues involving RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, boilers, chillers, pumps, exhaust systems, and other commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Support retrofit and modernization projects, including migrations from legacy or pneumatic control systems.
  • Work directly with customers to explain findings, recommend corrective action, and provide a strong service experience.
  • Provide technical leadership and field support to less-experienced controls technicians.
  • Complete clear startup, service, and project documentation and assist with customer training and closeout.
