Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Aerospace Engineering Draftsman to support the design, development, and documentation of aircraft systems, components, and assemblies. The successful candidate will prepare accurate engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation for aerospace products while ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.  Working closely with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and certification engineers, the Draftsman will convert engineering concepts into production-ready drawings that support manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models of aircraft components, assemblies, tooling, and installations. 
  • Prepare manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards. 
  • Develop and maintain engineering bills of materials (BOMs), parts lists, and drawing revisions. 
  • Produce detailed layouts, exploded views, installation drawings, wiring routing, and assembly instructions. 
  • Support the design and integration of aircraft structures, environmental control systems (ECS), vapor cycle air conditioning systems, electrical systems, and mechanical assemblies. 
  • Ensure engineering documentation complies with FAA, EASA, military, and customer requirements as applicable. 
  • Assist engineering teams during reverse engineering, first article development, testing, manufacturing, and product      certification. 
  • Verify drawing accuracy through design reviews and checking processes. 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field. 
  • 2+ years of drafting experience preferred in aerospace, aviation, defense, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment. 
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as: 
    • SolidWorks 
    • Autodesk Inventor 
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5. 
  • Understanding of aerospace materials, machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.   
  • Experience with aircraft environmental control systems (ECS), vapor cycle air conditioning systems, and structural repairs is preferred.      
  • Experience with configuration management and engineering change control processes.
