Job description

Mechanical Drafter – Measurement Devices (Oil & Gas)

Specialization: Pipe, Flanges, Fittings | Autodesk Inventor & Vault | 5+ Years Experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Drafter with 5+ years of experience supporting fabrication of measurement devices used in the oil and gas industry. This role focuses on drafting and modeling components such as meter tubes, ultrasonic meter runs, orifice fittings, sample systems, and associated piping assemblies. The ideal candidate is proficient in Autodesk Inventor, with a strong understanding of pipe, flange, and fitting standards commonly used in custody transfer and measurement applications.

Key Responsibilities

•              Produce detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for measurement equipment including:

•              Piping spools, flanges, fittings, supports, and enclosures

•              Create accurate BOMs, part files, and assembly models using Autodesk Inventor.

•              Manage engineering documentation, revisions, and workflows within Autodesk Vault.

•              Interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs, measurement schematics, and customer specifications.

•              Apply knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B16 series, AGA, API, and other measurement related standards.

•              Incorporate tolerances, weld details, and fabrication requirements into drawings.

•              Support project managers by preparing design packages, redlines, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.

•              Maintain drafting standards, templates, and best practices for measurement equipment.

•              Collaborate with measurement and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.

Required Qualifications

•              5+ years of mechanical drafting experience, preferably in oil & gas or industrial equipment.

•              Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor (parts, assemblies, drawings).

•              Experience drafting piping systems, flanges, fittings, and pressure containing components.

•              Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, and measurement schematics.

•              Understanding of ASME, ANSI, API, and AGA standards relevant to measurement devices.

•              Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.

•              Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•              Experience in measurement engineering, metering skids, or pipeline measurement systems.

•              Knowledge of AGA Report 3, 7, 9, 10, or other measurement standards.

•              Experience with fabrication shops, weld symbols, and manufacturing processes.

•              Ability to create custom Inventor content center parts.

•              Familiarity with ERP systems for BOM integration.

Work Environment/ Company Culture

At our company, teamwork isn’t just a value — it’s how we operate every day. We believe the best results come from people who share ideas openly, support one another, and stay aligned from concept to completion.

We foster a culture built on:

•              Cross site collaboration — consistent communication between customers, project management, drafting, and fabrication.

•              Continuous improvement — we encourage new ideas, better workflows, and smarter solutions

•              Ownership and accountability — we trust our people to deliver high quality work

•              Growth and development — opportunities to expand skills and advance your career
