Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a number of assembly duties to prepare a variety of standard composite parts in accordance with shop orders, oral and written instructions and blueprints.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bonds and assembles composite parts with components using blueprints and assembly tools with the use of fasteners, screws and liquid adhesive.

  • Uses standard methods for bonding basic components to composite parts.

  • Ensures composite assemblies meet bonding cure specifications.

  • Prepares composite surfaces by filling and sanding to a smooth surface.

  • Responsible for ensuring finished assemblies meet quality specifications and requirements including performing some functional tests.

  • Uses small hand tools, sanders, drills, routers, adhesive applicators, calipers, gauges and other measuring instruments.

  • Responsible only for own work.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION:

Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification and Textron Aviation's blueprint reading class is preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months of composites experience required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, fumes and liquids.  Safety shoes and protective clothing could be required.
