ROLE OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible to effectively supervise all aspects of the Knife River workforce, subcontractors, and to ensure that all aspects of the project are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, effective and profitable manner.
Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with work every other Saturday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
  1. Supervise multiple foremen and subcontractors on one or more paving projects.
  2. Work closely with Construction Manager, General Manager, Plant Manager, Project Engineers and other key personnel.
  3. Review daily cost reports.
  4. Manage project schedule.
  5. Communicate progress to key individuals.
  6. Meet with agencies and owners to build and maintain relationships.
  7. Approve daily timecards.
  8. Communicate and manage daily equipment needs with service department.
  9. Coordinate trucking with Logistics Manager and Trucking Supervisor.
  10. Provide training and direction to key personnel.
  11. Travel to project locations.
  12. Work a flexible schedule both days and nights.
  13. Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)
  1. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  2. Effectively communicate with crews, foremen, supervisors, agencies, owners and the community.
  3. Ability to schedule workers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project stays on schedule.
  4. Ability to supervise construction projects effectively and efficiently.
  5. Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
  6. Thorough understanding of industry practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
  7. Work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  8. Ability to think critically to change plan quickly as needed.
  9. Proficient with iPad and web-based scheduling, tracking and timekeeping applications.
  10. Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems on projects before they become major issues.
  11. Attention to detail is critical.
  12. Able to ensure projects are in compliance with the Company's Safety and Health Manual.
  13. Ability to work on weekends, public holidays, and at night.
  14. Ability to work for long hours in all weather conditions.
  15. Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.
  16. Must have strong work ethic.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
  1. 8 years of asphalt paving industry or related experience is preferred.
  2. 3 years supervising crews and equipment is preferred.
  3. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
  4. Flexible with schedule.
