Electrical Apprentice – Expanding Technical Mastery & Commercial Installation Skills


Job Overview

The Opportunity

You will play a vital role in executing specialized commercial electrical projects while sharpening your trade skills alongside seasoned professionals. This position offers an ideal environment for a dedicated apprentice who requires only minor guidance and is ready to take the next step toward becoming a fully qualified electrician. You will gain hands-on experience on steady, year-round jobs across the region with opportunities for overtime and long-term career growth.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Perform field installations, upgrades, and replacements of light fixtures, ballasts, and LED retrofit kits.
  • Install, wire, and test commercial light switches, receptacles, and standard wall outlets.
  • Utilize multimeters and specialized electrical test equipment to execute basic circuit troubleshooting.
  • Read layout plans and carry out assignments independently or under minimal supervisory guidance.
  • Adhere to strict job site safety standards and maintain a clean, organized working area.
  • Operate safely on ladders, scaffolding, and in diverse indoor and outdoor physical environments.
  • Support senior electricians on larger commercial power distribution and system maintenance tasks.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior practical experience in electrical installation, repair, and basic field troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ownership of basic electrical hand tools required for daily task execution.
  • Ability to safely use a multimeter/test meter to check voltage, continuity, and basic electrical parameters.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders, and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Demonstrated history of punctuality, strong work ethic, and effective team communication.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (or willingness to complete).
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local New York codes.
  • Experience on commercial construction or renovation job sites.
