Job Summary:

CJ Suppression is currently looking for a Sprinkler Construction Apprentice to join our team in California. This full-time position supports foremen and crew members in the installation of fire sprinkler systems across a variety of construction projects, including new builds, tenant improvements, underground piping, and retrofits. Fire sprinkler systems are critical to life safety, so attention to detail and quality workmanship are essential.

As an apprentice, you will assist with pipe fabrication, operate hand and power tools, perform general job site tasks efficiently, and follow all workplace procedures and safety policies. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the fire protection trade.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the installation of fire sprinkler systems on various construction sites, including new builds, retrofits, and tenant improvements.
  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to Cal/OSHA standards.
  • Apply company and industry-standard methods for pipe fabrication, layout, and system assembly.
  • Attend required safety, training, and educational meetings to improve trade knowledge and address job site safety concerns.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all tasks, upholding company values and contributing to a positive team environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant fire sprinkler experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13 standards for fire sprinkler system design and installation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
  • Basic understanding of measurements and ability to perform accurate calculations.
  • Familiarity with operating hand and power tools such as saws, drills, pipe threaders, wrenches, and lifts.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capable of solving practical problems and adapting to changing job site conditions.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (e.g., timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports).
  • Ability to adhere to all safety practices and Cal/OSHA regulations

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
