Propak Systems Ltd. is an established leader in engineering, fabrication, and construction of gas compression and processing facilities for the energy industry. We are currently seeking Journeyman and Apprentice Electricians to join our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB. 

We offer day, evening, and weekend day shifts with excellent premiums for evening and weekend day shifts. Key Responsibilities:

Journeyman and Apprentices:

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Install rigid steel and aluminum conduit (ability to bend, thread and install)
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.

Apprentice-specific:

  • Listen and be receptive to instructions and work to achieve set goals, action plans and timelines for project completion.
  • Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

Journeyman-level:

  • Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
  • Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of directly related work experience.
  • This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.

Apprentice-level:

  • Be eligible for registration as a registered apprentice; or
  • Be a registered apprentice.
  • Motivated and willing to learn.
