Weekend Apple Picker information

What is the difference between Weekend Apple Picker vs Seasonal Farm Worker?

AspectWeekend Apple PickerSeasonal Farm Worker
CredentialsNone typically requiredVaries, may include basic farm safety training
Work EnvironmentOrchards, outdoor, seasonalFields, outdoor, seasonal
Employer & IndustryFruit farms, orchardsVarious farms, including fruit and vegetable farms
Search & Comparison IntentOften compared for part-time, weekend workBroader seasonal farm work options

The main difference is that Weekend Apple Pickers typically work on weekends during the apple harvest season, focusing on fruit picking in orchards. Seasonal Farm Workers may perform a variety of farm tasks across different crops and seasons, often with more varied responsibilities. Both roles are outdoor, seasonal, and involve manual labor, but the Weekend Apple Picker role is more specialized for apple harvesting during weekends.

How much are Weekend Apple Pickers paid?

Weekend Apple Pickers typically earn between $10 and $15 per hour, depending on the location, farm, and experience. Some farms may offer bonuses or incentives for larger harvests, and the work often requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors during the harvest season.

How to become a Weekend Apple Picker?

To become a weekend apple picker, you typically need to be at least 16 years old, have physical stamina for outdoor work, and be available during harvest season. No formal education is required, but reliability and the ability to work in a team are important. Applying directly to farms or orchard companies during harvest time is the common way to find such seasonal positions.

Job description

Warehouse Picker

Location    Baxter, TN

Department    Warehouse / Logistics

Reports To    Warehouse Supervisor

Schedule    Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with OT

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Picker is the person who makes sure the right tile gets to the right customer. Working from pick tickets and handheld scanner directions, you’ll pull product from racking and floor locations, stage it for shipment, and verify that every order is accurate and damage-free before it leaves our dock. It’s hands-on, fast-moving work in a modern facility, and accuracy matters,  what you pick is what our customer receives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Pull and stage finished tile products from warehouse locations using pick tickets, work orders, or RF handheld scanner directions.

•    Verify product SKU, shade, caliber, quantity, and lot number against order documentation before staging — confirming that shade and caliber match across the order is critical in tile.

•    Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and clamp trucks to move and stage palletized product. (Training and certification provided.)

•    Inspect product for chips, cracks, and damage during picking; pull and report defective material rather than shipping it.

•    Wrap, band, label, and stage completed orders in the correct dock or shipping lane for loading.

•    Record picks, adjustments, and location moves accurately in the warehouse management system (WMS/ERP).

•    Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciling location discrepancies.

•    Replenish pick locations from bulk and reserve storage as needed.

•    Load and unload trailers and assist the shipping/receiving team during peak volume.

•    Keep aisles, racking, and staging areas clean, organized, and free of hazards; complete 5S and housekeeping duties for your area.

•    Follow all safety policies, wear required PPE, complete pre-shift equipment inspections, and report near-misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.

•    Support continuous improvement efforts and perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•    High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.

•    Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow pick tickets, labels, and written work instructions in English.

•    Basic math skills for counting, verifying quantities, and calculating square footage/piece counts.

•    Comfort using a handheld RF scanner, tablet, or computer terminal (training provided).

•    Dependable attendance and willingness to work the assigned shift, including occasional overtime and weekends based on production and shipping demand.

•    Ability to work safely and productively in a team-based manufacturing environment.

•    Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•    Prior warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing experience — order picking, shipping, or receiving.

•    Current or previous forklift certification (sit-down, reach truck, or clamp truck).

•    Experience with a WMS or ERP system (SAP, Oracle, or similar).

•    Familiarity with building products, flooring, tile, or other palletized heavy goods.

•    Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed on the warehouse floor of an active manufacturing facility. With or without reasonable accommodation, the Warehouse Picker must be able to:

•    Stand and walk on concrete surfaces for the majority of an 8–12 hour shift.

•    Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally handle heavier material with assistance or equipment.

•    Repeatedly bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach overhead, and climb on and off powered equipment.

•    Work in a facility where temperatures vary seasonally and where noise, dust, and forklift traffic are present.

•    Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety-toe footwear, safety glasses, high-visibility apparel, and hearing protection as assigned.

•    Maintain the visual acuity needed to distinguish tile shade variation, read labels and scanner screens, and safely observe surrounding traffic.
