Job description

Part-time position with Buffalo Institute for Medical Research, Inc. for Animal Care Technician position not to exceed 40 hours per week. Position requires weekend and holiday coverage. Under the supervision of Veterinary Medical Unit Manager principal duties include:
  • Responsible for the overall care, safety and well-being of research animals.
  • Feed, water and change a variety of species housed in the Veterinary
  • Medical Unit at VAWNYHS.
  • Assess health status and report any animal abnormality or sickness to the Manager.
  • Dispense medications to a variety of species as instructed by the Manager or
  • Principle Investigator.
  • New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician, current status required.

Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $22.50 – $25.00 per hour
Benefits: Flexible schedule and Paid time off
Schedule: 8 hour day shift, Days and times to be determined; weekends and
holidays as needed
Ability to commute/relocate: Buffalo, NY 14215: Reliably commute or planning to
relocate before starting work (Required). Experience:
  • New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician, status must be current
  • (Required)
  • Animal handling: 2 years (Required)
  • Animal restraint: 2 years (Required)
  • Veterinary experience: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
• NYS Licensed Veterinary Technician, current status (Required)
Work Location: In person
