Job description

We are an independently-owned and operated (rare these days) Fear Free Certified Practice (one of the first in Washington State), with an ultra-supportive and collaborative hospital culture, and we are looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to add to our rockstar team.

Resiliency in this industry is a priority for us, and we welcome feedback from our team members to continue to evolve and deliver care that we are incredibly proud of.

If you seek a hospital that welcomes folks from all backgrounds, supports diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplace, and in our community, and prioritizes our staff's mental well-being, look no further.  New grads are welcome and encouraged to apply.

We work to elevate technical staff in the profession, fully utilize technical skills, and challenge every team member to develop professionally and personally.

As an employee with FVH you will find competitive wages, a full benefits package, generous time-off accrual and scheduling practices, and a workplace that truly values you as a person.
We Offer:
  • Full-time employees work 36-38 hours weekly, typically 4, 9.5-hour shifts with flex time available for up to 40 hours. Flex-time is available to work on CE or other individual assignments without having to work overtime.
  • FVH is closed on weekends and major holidays. No late nights or on-call hours.
  • Competitive wage scale. We furnish a higher wage scale for a VTS certification, and for leadership roles. Wage scales are reassessed annually.
  • Review opportunities are provided annually to celebrate your strengths and identify areas of development. We offer regular check-ins with the leadership team, and an open-door communication policy to make sure all employees feel heard.
  • 75% premium paid health (Kaiser Gold plan), dental and vision insurance.
  • Uniforms provided annually.
  • State licensing fees and professional dues paid for LVTs
  • CE budget includes paid CE days off to attend conferences.
  • Paid Fear Free certification.
  • Generous PTO accrual. Five additional paid holidays off, paid day off for your birthday, and unpaid/flex days off.
  • Vanguard 401K Retirement plan with a 4% match.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides free behavioral health counseling, as well as financial planning, education planning, home ownership counseling, and many other services.
  • Generous pet care discount.
  • Several annual staff parties and celebrations.
  • Monthly team meetings and annual all-staff training days on topics from conflict resolution to CPR and feline behavior.
  • Will sponsor VTS certification for the right candidate.
  • Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

You have:
  • WA State LVT licensure current or easily obtained at time of hire.
  • Previous work experience at a veterinary facility.
  • Dedication to ensuring each patient and client is treated with the highest level of compassion and care.
  • A sincere passion for providing Fear Free care and an interest in animal behavior.
  • Basic skills and comfort using phones, computers, emailing, texting, and using veterinary practice-management software. We are very paper-light and currently use AVImark.
  • Emotional intelligence and a willingness to continually develop communication skills.
  • A positive and flexible attitude.
  • Professionalism, even in the less-than perfect moments of vet med.
  • The desire to be a part of a team who cheers each other on and is excited to be a part of the veterinary industry.
  • Motivation to grow your technical, communication, and leadership skills, and a drive to do better everyday.
  • Confidence to seek feedback from peers to continue to improve.
  • The drive to provide the type of care you would wish for your own pets and willingness to help participate in policy development to make it a reality.
