Job description

The Interventional Radiologic Technologist  provides advanced imaging support for minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position

plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting physicians during interventional procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and adherence to ARH policies and regulatory standards.


Ultrasound Technologist, Vascular Registry Preferred

• Perform interventional radiology procedures utilizing fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and ultrasound guidance.

• Assist radiologists and interventional physicians during vascular and non-vascular procedures.

• Prepare interventional suites, including equipment setup, sterile trays, contrast media, and supplies.

• Maintain strict sterile techniques and follow ARH infection prevention policies.

• Position patients appropriately and operate imaging equipment to achieve optimal image quality.

• Monitor patients throughout procedures, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition.

• Administer contrast agents per ARH protocols and monitor for adverse reactions.

• Accurately document procedures, radiation dose metrics, contrast usage, and patient care in the electronic medical record.

• Practice radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles and Kentucky state regulations.

• Ensure proper operation and troubleshooting of interventional imaging equipment.

• Participate in on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

• Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

• Maintain compliance with DNV, ARH policies, and federal and state regulations.

Procedures May Include

• Diagnostic angiography.

• Peripheral and visceral vascular interventions.

• PICC line, port, and central line placements.

• Thrombectomy and thrombolysis.

• Biopsies and drain placements.

• Embolization procedures.

• IVC filter placement and retrieval.

• Dialysis access procedures.


Education

• Associate's Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology required.

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.

Experience

• One (1) year of experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required.

• ARRT Advanced Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) preferred.

• Current Kentucky State Radiologic License required.

• BLS certification required.

• ACLS certification preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of fluoroscopy, CT, DSA, and ultrasound-guided imaging procedures.

• Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention practices.

• Knowledge of radiation safety standards and ALARA principles.

• Ability to assist with complex vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures.

• Strong patient assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.
