The 3 month rule in jobs, including weekend and evening roles, typically refers to a probation period of about three months during which an employer evaluates an employee's performance and suitability for the position. During this time, employees may have limited job security and benefits, and employers often assess skills, punctuality, and adaptability before confirming permanent employment.

Job description

Top-tier pay, modern bays, and a shift that gives your days back.

A national leader in commercial truck leasing, rental, and fleet maintenance is adding Licensed Diesel Truck Technicians (Red Seal) to its Edmonton shop. Two seats are open for techs who diagnose and repair on their own and want strong pay, great equipment, and room to grow.

The numbers and the schedule

  • $42 to $45 per hour, plus shift premiums ($3.00 second shift, $4.00 third shift, $3.00 weekend)
  • Evening shift, Monday to Friday, 3:15 PM to 11:45 PM (second opening schedule to be confirmed)
  • Location: Edmonton, AB

What you'll own on the floor

You are the specialist, working with little to no supervision. You'll diagnose, overhaul, and repair the full range of truck and trailer equipment, including major component work on engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and fuel systems. You'll run full preventive maintenance, service brakes, steering, and air systems, road test for accurate diagnosis, document warrantable repairs, and keep your bay clean and safe.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of tractor-trailer maintenance experience
  • Active Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic certification, or an Alberta journeyperson Certificate of Qualification, in good standing
  • Valid driver's license with air brake endorsement, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months
  • Confidence diagnosing major components and working independently

Why you'll want this seat

  • Benefits that start the first of the month after you begin, with no 90-day waiting period
  • Among the strongest pay on this posting set, plus attractive shift premiums
  • RRSP with company match, plus health and dental coverage
  • Tool and boot allowance, free uniforms and laundry service
  • Tuition reimbursement and ongoing OEM and technical training
  • Vacation, 11 paid statutory holidays, and paid sick days
  • A modern, clean shop with industry-leading tools and technology
  • Genuine advancement and partner discounts
