Job description

Aircraft Logs and Records Technician

Location: New River (MALS-26)

Task Description: Aircraft Logs and Records Technician, GS-301-07

Maintains aircraft and engine logbooks and associated records. Proficient performing all operator, data entry and retrieval functions associated with aircraft recordkeeping. Performs networking functions between individual stations, including analysis and correction of errors caused by software, hardware or data entry. Transmits and receives data via floppy disk, modem and other electronic means. Extracts data, formulates and interprets management reports, creates archives, backups, and data saves in support of military deployments and detachment operations. Performs a wide range of clerical and administrative duties related to aircraft maintenance, such as preparing reports and correspondence, filing and typing, performing data base and systems analysis.

Additional Requirements: Shall be proficient performing all operator, data entry, and retrieval functions. Transmits and receives data via disk, modem, and other electronic means. Extracts data, formulates and interprets management reports, creates archives, backups, and data saves in support of deployments and detachment operations. Performs a wide range of administrative duties such as preparing reports and correspondence, filing and typing

Task Requirements:

Perform administrative duties related to aircraft maintenance such as preparing reports and correspondence, filing and typing; performing data base and system analysis; maintaining aircraft and engine logbooks, and associated records. Responsible for Technical Directive (TD) Compliance, Support Equipment Planned Maintenance System (SE PMS) and Aircraft/Engine Logbooks record keeping and reporting as required by COMNAVAIRFOR INST. 4790 Series and the following:

  • Aircraft Readiness Status Reporting
  • Naval Aircraft Flight Record (OPNAVINST 3710/4)
  • Aircraft Inspection and Acceptance Record (OPNAVINST 4790/141)
  • All situational and periodic reports required by TYCOM. TYPEWING, or MALS-26 and outlined by applicable instructions
  • All current and future reporting required of MALS-26 maintenance through Navy/Marine Corps systems (e.g. Optimized-Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA), Naval Aviation Logistics Data Analysis (NALDA), Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Services Command (NATEC)
  • Ad-Hoc reporting as approved by the COR.
  • Approve (sign aircraft and engine logbook entries)
  • Creation and completion of the entire NAVAIR 500C prior to review by Government TD Coordinator and Government TD Manager
  • Performs duties for Organizational "O" Level maintenance
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support documentation for H-1 Aircraft
  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • Technical Directive compliance entries
  • Maintain Aircraft, Engines, and SE Logbooks
  • Dispersed Technical Publications Librarian (work center), as applicable
  • Utilize the current management information system(s) to maintain aircraft forms and records as required
  • Process readiness documents, administer the aircraft configuration status accounting program and verify aircraft utilization reports
  • Perform other Administrative Aircraft Maintenance reports as required by Site Management and/or the Customer
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Configuration Management for Organizational and Intermediate Activities (C-555-0059)
  • Aeronautical Technical Publications Library Management (C-555-0007)
  • NALCOMIS OOMA System Administrator (C-555-0049)
  • Utilize the current management information system(s) to maintain aircraft forms and records as required
  • Process readiness documents, administer the aircraft configuration status accounting program and verify aircraft utilization reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Navy Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ) "A" School or three (3) years relevant military experience
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd or weekend shift as required
  • Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC)
  • Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC)

Compensation: $25.21/hour

Other Compensation: Employees receive a minimum health and welfare benefit of $2.65 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Benefits: Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI's 401k plan. Employees receive 2 weeks' paid vacation after 1 year of service. KAI employees at MALS-26 have 11 paid holidays.
