Senior Inspector - Maintenance Engineering & Inspection
Lake City, FL - District 2
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is a full-service transportation design and consulting firm specializing in civil and transportation engineering services. With a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction, we deliver comprehensive solutions for infrastructure projects across the U.S. Our collaborative culture, technical expertise, and passion for improving communities drive our success. This position will support FDOT District 2 projects in Lake City, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and Gainesville.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for familiarity with the Department's Procedures covering the project-related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.
  • Responsible for exercising independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to field aspects of the project.
  • Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors.
  • Responsible for performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator.
  • Full-Time Position and may be required to work some nights and weekends as the project construction schedule requires

Qualifications
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • One 1 year of CEI/MEI experience with the construction of roadway or bridge structures or 4 years of CEI/MEI experience in roadway or bridge construction is required.

  • CTQP Grouting Technician Level I
  • CTQP Post-Tensioning Technician Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FNGLA Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA)
  • FCLT Florida Certified Landscape Technician
  • Possess current licensure from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs in the following three categories pertaining to herbicide: core curriculum, right of way, and aquatics.
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety

Physical and Environmental Requirements
The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.
Hours of Operation
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
