Our Connecticut division, located in Shelton, seeks a Grinding Operator for the the 1st shift; M-F (no weekends).
Summary
The Grinding Operator is responsible for the operation of various types of grinding machines that grind external surfaces of metal parts in accordance with company standards and customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform grinding operations following job instructions.
  • Read job order product specifications for dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground and tooling instructions, such as speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used.
  • Assist with "first piece" and "last piece" inspections.
  • Maintain production levels in accordance with the job instructions.
  • Operate machines and measuring instruments as per instructions and keep them in good working order.
  • Perform quality checks as per inspection instructions.
  • Input quality and production data into the ERP system.
  • Communicate to Manager any problem areas and deficiencies, so corrective actions may be taken.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy at all times.
  • Work in an organized manner with attention to details.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Graduation from high school or receipt of equivalent degree (GED).
  • 1-3 years of factory related experience using grinding machines preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read measuring devises (micrometers, bore gauges, drop indicators).
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Able to perform simple arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of English and Metric Systems of measurement.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of basic Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to recognize and understand Globally Harmonized Hazard Identification.
  • Basic data entry computer skills.
  • Basic level ERP systems.
