Position Overview
Tallgrass Healthcare Campus is seeking a motivated and handson Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – RN) to join our nursing leadership team. The ADON partners closely with our tenured Director of Nursing, playing a key role in supporting daily clinical operations, staff development, and quality care delivery.

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing assists in the overall leadership and management of the nursing department to ensure highquality, compliant, and compassionate care in accordance with state, federal, and facility standards. The ADON provides visible leadership support to nursing staff, participates in quality initiatives and survey readiness, and helps maintain the strong clinical foundation established by our longtenured DON.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing in daytoday nursing operations
- Provide clinical oversight, mentorship, and support to nursing staff across shifts
- Conduct resident rounds to ensure quality care and regulatory compliance
- Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and nurse supervision
- Support onboarding, coaching, and professional development of nursing staff
- Assist with maintaining and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices
- Participate in survey preparation, survey response, and plan of correction followup
- Monitor quality indicators, incidents, and highrisk areas, supporting improvement initiatives
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to meet resident needs
- Serve as DON designee as assigned
Weekend & OnCall Expectations
- Participate in a rotating oncall schedule with nursing leadership
- Provide weekend leadership coverage as assigned
- Available by phone and/or on site to support clinical operations, staffing, and resident care
Qualifications
- Active Kansas RN license (required)
- Longterm care or skilled nursing experience preferred
- Previous leadership, ADON, or charge nurse experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of CMS, KDADS, and longterm care regulations
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to lead with accountability while fostering teamwork and staff engagement
- Comfortable working in a fastpaced, residentfocused healthcare environment
