Job description

As a Retail Manager, you'll lead your team in delivering exceptional guest experiences that celebrate our musical legacy while managing all shop operations, including guest service, sales, merchandising, compliance, and human resource functions. You'll collaborate with corporate leadership to implement business strategies and drive operational excellence, contributing to revenue growth and strong financial performance through outstanding products and services. Our retail locations range from traditional gift shop environments to live performance venues. As the ideal candidate you'll inspire teamwork, service, and integrity to foster a positive and productive work environment. Reports to General Manager.
  • Manage profit and loss performance by overseeing sales, labor, and inventory. Achieve targets through effective staff, inventory, and expense planning. Analyze operating reports, provide recommendations and implement improvement plans.
  • Identify opportunities to drive sales. Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to increase traffic, conversion, and basket size.
  • Responsible for the implementation and execution of policies, operating procedures and training programs, directives, menus, work schedules, rules and regulations for the staff.
  • Oversee HR lifecycle for retail staff, including hiring, scheduling, payroll, evaluations and corrective action.
  • Lead and develop for frontline staff. Set clear expectations, deliver consistent coaching, and ensure alignment with department and venue goals.
  • Institute and uphold exceptional guest service. Ensure associates share their pride in our venue's legacy and are knowledgeable about current offerings. Promote company values and a culture of teamwork, respect, and positivity.
  • Schedule retail staff to align with labor budgets while ensuring exceptional guest experience. Manage payroll processes for hourly staff.
  • Partner with corporate retail team to optimize product, pricing, promotions and marketing to drive sales. Participate in venue and corporate meetings to improve guest experience, increase traffic, and work cross-functionally to strengthen overall business performance.
  • Lead merchandising efforts. Maintain a fully stocked, visually appealing retail space that meets brand standards and drives sales. Optimize product placement to enhance guest experience and visual impact.
  • Support security functions to protect assets and the personal safety of employees and guests. Follow company safety policies and procedures, including emergency evacuation procedures. Implement and follow cash control procedures. Provide leadership in the execution of inventory.
  • Communicate and uphold all corporate standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Follow and support brand SOPs. Participate in and respond to annual company audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Experience
  • 3+ years' retail management experience preferred
  • 2+ years' supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Specialty/gift store experience a plus
  • Experience managing operations in accordance with union and labor relations agreements preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills that include the ability to coach, develop, discipline, and clearly communicate expectations
  • Dedicated to sales and customer service excellence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom and fluent with retail POS system functionality
  • Able to work during peak times, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to support business needs

Physical Requirements
Speak and hear to communicate with guests and use both near and distance vision for operating the POS system, reading SKUs, and completing merchandising tasks. Stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces and while carrying items. Frequently climb stairs throughout the venue and use ladders to access storage areas. Regularly lift and carry up to 25 lbs., and occasionally sit, kneel, bend, and reach to stock merchandise. Manual dexterity for tasks such as using a computer and handling merchandise.
