CredentialsTypically requires acting experience or trainingSimilar credentials, may vary by role
Work EnvironmentOn set, theater, or studioSame as weekend acting, varies by project
Industry UsageCommon in entertainment and theaterUsed interchangeably, often overlapping

Weekend Acting involves performing primarily on weekends with a set schedule, often for specific productions or events. Part-Time Acting offers more flexibility, allowing actors to work on various days, including weekdays. Both roles require similar skills and credentials, and they are used within the same industry sectors. The main difference lies in scheduling and flexibility, with weekend acting being more fixed and part-time acting offering broader availability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend actor?

To thrive as a Weekend Actor, you need strong acting skills, script memorization, and often some formal training in drama or performing arts. Familiarity with stage equipment, lighting, and sometimes video recording tools is also valuable. Adaptability, teamwork, and the ability to take direction are essential soft skills that help actors stand out. These abilities ensure memorable performances, smooth collaboration with directors and cast, and professional growth in competitive entertainment settings.

What are some common challenges faced by weekend actors, and how can they effectively balance acting with other weekday commitments?

Weekend actors often juggle their acting pursuits alongside full-time jobs, family responsibilities, or academic commitments. One of the main challenges is managing time efficiently to prepare for rehearsals and performances held during weekends, while ensuring they meet their weekday obligations. Effective communication with directors and fellow cast members, as well as proactive scheduling and time management, are essential for success. Many weekend actors also find it helpful to prioritize self-care and maintain a support network to handle the demands of a busy schedule.

What is weekend acting?

Weekend acting refers to acting roles, classes, or gigs that take place primarily on weekends. This can include community theater performances, acting workshops, film shoots, or commercial work scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate people with weekday commitments. Many aspiring actors choose weekend acting to gain experience, build their resumes, and network within the industry while maintaining other jobs or studies during the week.

Job description

Our story began 75 years ago when the Herschend family discovered wonder deep in an Ozark Mountain cave-and chose to share it with the world. Today, Herschend is the largest family-held themed attractions company, with over 40 leading attractions and immersive experiences that reach audiences worldwide.

While each brand offers something unique, all are united by a shared purpose: Bringing Families Closer Together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating. Our passionate hosts make this purpose possible through everyday acts of love and service-what we call Heartspitality-the intersection of heart and hospitality.

As an equal-opportunity employer, we strive to provide environments where every host, guest, and partner feel welcome, valued, and loved. We firmly believe that words and actions matter, which is why all individuals are to be treated equally and with respect.

Do you like to scare people? Do you like to do scary make-up? Do you love Halloween? If you answered "YES" to these questions, then we have a position for you!
A scare actor will help to provide the guests a unique experience by working in a haunted maze, a scare zone, or as a roaming actor. This position plays an integral part of making the attractions come to life!
