The Position 

We are looking for new part-time, in-home SAT/ACT Tutors located in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia to join our team. Sessions are scheduled after school (weekdays, 4-10 PM) and on weekends, providing flexible hours to fit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 120-minute private, in-home SAT/ACT tutoring sessions to students in the DC metro area.
  • Create customized lesson plans to address individual student needs and learning goals.
  • Maintain consistent, positive communication with parents and students to build trust and rapport.
  • Collaborate with the Top Score team to track student progress and refine tutoring strategies.
  • Complete 50-60 hours of paid training to ensure you’re equipped with the best tools and strategies for success.
Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years of experience tutoring the SAT and/or ACT.
  • A 95th percentile or higher SAT/ACT score.
  • Passionate about building positive, supportive relationships with students and families.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong time management and process adherence.
  • Excellent communicator, responsive, and committed to collaborative teamwork.
Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: Starting at $55-$85/hour, with the potential to earn up to $100/hour based on experience and tenure.

Logistical Requirements

  • Reliable access to a car and willingness to travel up to 30 minutes for in-home sessions.
  • Ability to pass a background check (required for working with students).
  • Medium to long-term commitment: 2 years minimum. Even if you leave the DC area after a few years, opportunities for remote work with Top Score are possible.
