POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial operations by managing day-to-day accounting tasks and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This position manages accounts receivable, accounts payable and prepares financial reports summarizing information and trends. The Staff Accountant ensures financial accuracy through account reconciliations and audits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Process invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing disbursements; obtaining authorization of payment.
• Obtains revenue by verifying transaction information; computing charges and refunds; preparing and emailing invoices; identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments.
• Collects revenue by reminding delinquent accounts, notifying customers of insufficient payments.
• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions.
• Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions.
• Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments or adjustments.
• Audit employee expense reports and request receipts accordingly
• Monitors Finance Inbox daily to ensure finance tasks are completed timely.
• Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
• Maintains financial historical records by saving accounting documents.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 1-3 years of experience in accounting, finance or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Quickbooks Online as well as office productivity software.
• Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
• Role requires availability for all RIFC home games, marketing events, select road games and select stadium events.
• Frequent evening, weekend, and holiday work required based on organizational and event schedules.
• Position is based in Rhode Island with regular in-person presence at the team office, stadium, and external events.
