What are Weekend Access Control Systems jobs?

Weekend Access Control Systems jobs typically involve monitoring and managing the security systems that control entry to buildings or facilities during weekends. Responsibilities may include checking credentials, operating security technology such as key card readers and surveillance cameras, and responding to security breaches or alarms. These positions are crucial for ensuring safety and authorized access outside of regular business hours, often requiring attention to detail and strong communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Access Control Systems Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Access Control Systems Technician, you need a solid understanding of electronic security systems, troubleshooting skills, and typically a high school diploma or technical certification in electronics or security systems. Familiarity with access control software, wiring schematics, card readers, and systems like Lenel, HID, or Honeywell is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help technicians excel, especially during off-hours when support may be limited. These skills ensure secure, reliable facility access and timely resolution of issues, maintaining safety and operational continuity during weekends.

What are the typical weekend responsibilities for an Access Control Systems technician, and how does the workflow differ from weekdays?

As a Weekend Access Control Systems technician, you'll often focus on maintenance, troubleshooting, and urgent service requests that arise outside of regular business hours. The workflow tends to be less structured, with a greater emphasis on responding to on-call issues or scheduled upgrades that can't be performed during the week to minimize disruption for clients. Collaboration may be more independent, though you may coordinate remotely with support teams or on-site security staff. This role is ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving in a quieter, less crowded environment and can adapt to dynamic schedules.

This is a rare opportunity to get on a high-profile, mission-critical data center project with a team that values attitude, communication, and work ethic just as much as technical skill. If you have access control or low voltage experience and are looking for a stable project with room to grow into lead and foreman roles - we want to hear from you.

    • Motion detectors and sounder/siren devices
    • Electric strikes and magnetic locks
    • Card readers and optical/security devices
  • Wiring and terminating access control panels, controllers, and boards
  • Installing and supporting structured cabling infrastructure and MDF/head-end room buildouts
  • Mounting, installing, and wiring IP cameras throughout the facility

  • Performing firmware upgrades and downgrades on security devices as required
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and verifying proper operation of installed systems
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, riser drawings, and installation plans
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and professional installations
  • Coordinating with project leads, PMs, and general contractors
  • Following AWS site requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures
What You Need
  • Experience in access control, security device installation, structured cabling, or low voltage systems
  • Ability to pass all AWS onboarding and background requirements
  • Ability to work safely on an active construction site
  • Reliable transportation to the project site in the Atlanta metro area
  • Standard low voltage hand tools
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow

Note: OSHA 10 will be provided and is required prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with access control systems and field hardware installation
  • Familiarity with MDF/IDF environments
  • Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and riser drawings
  • Background in data center, commercial construction, or mission-critical environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot low voltage systems
Highly Desired
  • Experience with Lenel access control systems
  • Hands-on experience with Lenel boards:

  • Access control commissioning experience
  • Leadership or crew lead potential - growth into lead/foreman roles is available
Schedule & Physical Requirements
  • Day shift: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with schedule flex based on project phase
  • Overtime expected as the project ramps up
  • Active construction environment - walking, lifting, ladder work, bending, kneeling, and climbing required
  • PPE provided on site
Why This Role
  • Work on a brand new AWS Data Center - one of the most recognized names in tech infrastructure
  • PPE provided - no out of pocket cost
  • OSHA 10 provided
  • Clear growth path into lead, foreman, and project leadership roles
  • A team culture that values who you are, not just your resume

All candidates must pass AWS onboarding and background requirements prior to placement. Equal opportunity employer.
